Job Purpose We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to support the recruitment and engagement of editors and editorial boards playing a key role in driving long-term growth and stability across our Gold Open Access journal portfolio The role involves close collaboration with Journal Managers and the Commissioning Team to identify recruitment needs map journals into sections and recruit Associate Editors Section Editors Editorial Board Members and Editorial Review Board Members A strong emphasis is placed on developing scalable efficient processes for board management while ensuring editorial boards are active engaged and aligned with journal strategy Key Responsibilities Partner with Journal Managers to map journal sections assess recruitment needs and develop editorial board recruitment plans aligned with journal strategy Research and profile potential Associate Editors AEs and Section Editors SEs preparing vetted candidate lists for Journal Manager review and coordinate onboarding meetings with successful candidates Identify profile and compile lists of prospective Editorial Board Members EBMs and Editorial Review Board Members ERBs providing Journal Managers with high-quality candidates and supporting invitation processes Track and report on recruitment progress and board composition across assigned journals Collaborate with the Commissioning Team to ensure editorial board recruitment efforts support article development and special collection initiatives Develop workflows to identify and funnel engaged authors and reviewers into editorial board positions Work with the Head of Research Community Engagement to refine recruitment and engagement strategies enhancing editorial board participation in peer review and journal development Provide input on editorial board management systems and tools suggesting areas for automation and improved functionality to streamline recruitment and engagement workflows Deliver regular updates on recruitment progress challenges and outcomes contributing to discussions on broader editorial board initiatives Skills Qualifications Experience Degree in a biomedical engineering or physical science discipline Experience in journal publishing Open Access experience preferred with knowledge of editorial board recruitment and engagement strategies Strong communication organization and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Project management skills including the ability to quickly grasp current scientific concepts across diverse fields of research Strong problem-solving skills with experience in process improvement and workflow optimization Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems
