Job Summary

The NICU In-Charge is responsible for the overall management of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for critically ill and premature newborns. The role includes staff supervision, patient safety, quality improvement, infection control, and coordination with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate all nursing activities within the NICU.
- Ensure safe, compassionate, and evidence-based neonatal nursing care.
- Allocate nursing staff and prepare duty rosters.
- Monitor patient care, documentation, and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Coordinate with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and other departments.
- Ensure availability and proper maintenance of NICU equipment and supplies.
- Implement and monitor infection prevention and control practices.
- Conduct orientation, training, and competency assessments for nursing staff.
- Monitor quality indicators, incident reporting, and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards (NABH/JCI, if applicable), and statutory requirements.
- Counsel and educate parents regarding neonatal care and discharge planning.
- Participate in emergency response and code management within the NICU.
- Maintain accurate records, inventory, and unit reports.




- Lead quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.

Qualifications

- B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (M.Sc. Nursing preferred).
- Valid Nursing Council registration.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is desirable.

Experience

- 5–8 years of nursing experience, including at least 2–3 years in a NICU.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
