- Act as the technical authority for all steel structure engineering matters on the project.
- Lead and review:
- Structural steel design deliverables
- Shop drawings and erection drawings
- Design calculations and technical clarifications
- Ensure compliance with:
- TotalEnergies General and Project Specifications
- Applicable international standards (AISC, EN, BS, AWS, ASTM, Eurocodes)
- Approved IFC drawings and project design criteria
- Ensure structural designs are optimized for constructability, safety, and costeffectiveness.
Fabrication & Erection Oversight
- Coordinate and oversee structural steel fabrication and erection activities, including:
- Fabrication sequences and inspection readiness
- Erection methodology and stability requirements
- Temporary works, supports, and bracing
- Highstrength bolting and welding interfaces
- Review and approve (as applicable):
- Fabrication method statements
- Erection methodologies and lifting studies
- Coordinate with QA/QC Structural and Welding teams to ensure full compliance with inspection and testing requirements.
Coordination & Interface Management
- Act as the main interface between:
- Structural engineering
- Construction and erection teams
- QA/QC and HSE departments
- Coordinate interfaces with:
- Civil works (foundations, anchor bolts, embedded plates)
- Mechanical and piping supports
- E&I; structural supports and platforms
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering sessions.
- Interface with TotalEnergies and PMC representatives on all steel structure technical matters.
Technical Problem Solving & Change Management
- Resolve site and fabrication technical issues such as:
- Misalignments
- Design clashes
- Material substitutions
- Review and manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
related to structural steel.
- Evaluate technical deviations and recommend corrective solutions in line with TotalEnergies approval procedures.
- Support delay mitigation and recovery by providing engineering input.
HSE & Compliance
- Ensure all structural engineering and site activities comply with:
- TotalEnergies HSE Golden Rules
- Project HSE Plan and PermittoWork (PTW) system
- Ensure structural designs and erection methods:
- Minimize work at height
- Reduce heavy lifting risks
- Promote protected construction practices
- Participate in risk assessments, HAZID/HAZOP (as applicable), and lifting reviews.
- Exercise stopwork authority in case of unsafe or noncompliant activities.
Quality / Reporting Responsibilities
- Ensure structural engineering deliverables meet TotalEnergies quality requirements.
- Support QA/QC teams during:
- Inspections and audits
- NCR resolution and technical evaluations
- Provide regular technical progress reports and engineering status updates to project management.
- Support internal and external audits related to structural engineering scope.
- Welding Knowledge is preferrable.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (mandatory).
- Minimum 1215 years of experience in structural steel engineering on Oil & Gas or major Industrial EPC projects.
- Minimum 5 years in a Lead or Senior Structural Engineering role.
- Proven experience working under TotalEnergies or equivalent International Operator standards is highly preferred.
- Strong EPC Contractor or PMC project background.
- Expert knowledge of structural steel design, fabrication, and erection practices.
- Strong command of international structural codes and standards
