Position Summary

The General Science Teacher for Classes III to V is responsible for developing scientific curiosity, observation skills, and foundational understanding of science concepts among primary students. The role focuses on making science engaging, practical, and activity-based through experiments, demonstrations, and real-life applications.

The ideal candidate should be passionate about science education, skilled in handling young learners, and capable of simplifying scientific concepts into hands-on, enjoyable learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Instruction (General Science / EVS Teaching)

- Teach General Science / Environmental Studies (EVS) to Classes III, IV, and V as per CBSE curriculum guidelines.
- Build foundational understanding of topics such as plants, animals, human body, food, water, air, matter, environment, and natural phenomena.
- Develop scientific thinking through observation, questioning, exploration, and experimentation.
- Connect science concepts to real-life situations for better understanding.
- Ensure timely completion of syllabus and academic learning objectives.

2. Lesson Planning & Curriculum Delivery

- Prepare structured lesson plans aligned with CBSE curriculum and school academic plan.
- Design worksheets, activity sheets, diagrams, and project-based assignments.
- Use models, charts, experiments, and demonstrations to enhance learning.
- Incorporate inquiry-based and experiential learning methods.
- Adapt teaching strategies based on student learning levels.

3. Experiential & Activity-Based Learning

- Conduct simple experiments and hands-on classroom activities.
- Organize nature walks, observation tasks, and environmental awareness activities.
- Encourage students to explore scientific concepts through curiosity-based learning.
- Use visual aids, models, and multimedia tools for concept clarity.
- Promote learning through group activities and interactive discussions.

4. Scientific Skills Development

- Develop observation, classification, comparison, and reasoning skills among students.
- Encourage questioning and scientific thinking in everyday life.
- Build understanding of cause-and-effect relationships.
- Promote awareness of environmental conservation and sustainability.
- Strengthen ability to relate theory with practical applications.

5. Assessment & Evaluation

- Conduct regular formative and summative assessments including tests, quizzes, worksheets,



and projects.
- Evaluate conceptual understanding, application skills, and observation abilities.
- Design competency-based questions as per CBSE guidelines.
- Maintain detailed academic records of student progress.
- Provide feedback and remedial support where required.

6. Classroom Management

- Maintain a safe, disciplined, and interactive classroom environment.
- Encourage curiosity, participation, and scientific discussions.
- Promote collaborative learning through group experiments and activities.
- Ensure proper handling and safety during experiments and demonstrations.
- Maintain a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.

7. Project Work & Practical Learning

- Assign and supervise science projects and model-making activities.
- Encourage students to create charts, diagrams, and working models.
- Promote participation in science exhibitions and school events.
- Guide students in documenting observations and findings.
- Integrate creativity with scientific understanding.

8. Student Development & Support

- Identify students needing additional support and provide remedial teaching.
- Encourage advanced learners with enrichment activities and projects.
- Build scientific curiosity and interest among all learners.
- Support development of analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Encourage participation in science-related competitions and activities.

9. Parent Communication & Engagement

- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and academic discussions.
- Share feedback on student performance and conceptual understanding.
- Suggest home-based science activities and observations.
- Build strong home-school collaboration for learning support.

10. Technology Integration

- Use Smart Boards, simulations, and multimedia tools for teaching science concepts.
- Integrate videos, animations, and digital experiments where applicable.
- Support blended learning and digital assignments.
- Enhance concept clarity through interactive visual resources.

11. Administrative Responsibilities





- Maintain attendance records, lesson plans, and student assessment data.
- Prepare worksheets, diagrams, and teaching materials.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and academic reviews.
- Coordinate with Primary Coordinator for curriculum execution.
- Contribute to development of science resources and question banks.

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualification

- Bachelors Degree in Science (Physics / Chemistry / Biology / General Science) (mandatory).
- B.Ed. (Primary/Elementary Education preferred or mandatory as per school norms).
- Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed /D.ED) will be an added advantage.

Experience

- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in CBSE schools preferred.
- Experience in teaching Science / EVS at primary level (Classes III–V).
- Freshers with strong subject knowledge and teaching aptitude may be considered.
