Role & responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll processing for UK employees, including Denpay and staff payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
- Enter payroll data into Xero from the outsourced payroll provider for each Practice and Head Office
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, and pension regulations
- Liaise with the Treasurer to ensure timely and accurate payments related to payroll, taxes, and statutory obligations
- Maintain and reconcile trackers for retention, locum therapists, and overpayments, ensuring proper follow-ups and controls
- Prepare and present monthly management information (MI) and financial reports to support business planning and decision-making
- Manage full-cycle accounting for UK-based clients using Xero, including financial statements, reconciliations, and management reporting
- Collaborate with managers and clients to resolve queries, support audits, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, HMRC requirements (PAYE, VAT, Corporation Tax), NHS reporting obligations and Companies House filings.
Preferred candidate profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Payroll and Credit
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Proven experience in payroll processing, ideally within a UK-based setting
- Strong understanding of UK payroll systems (e.g., Denpay or similar)
- Hands-on experience with Xero for accounting and reporting
- Experience managing end-to-end accounting processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting
- Exposure to working with outsourced payroll providers and multi-entity structures (desirable)
- Experience supporting audits and working with external stakeholders or clients
