The position seeker should be responsible to keep the database up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.
Principle Accountabilities
- Provisioning of MySQL instances.
- Ensuring performance, security, and availability of databases.
- Prepare documentation and specifications.
- Database software management (patch and version management).
- Installation, configuration, and upgrading of MySQL software and related products.
- Troubleshooting issues to determining root cause.
- Provides technical escalation expertise for database system problems.
- Recording data and reporting it to proper parties, such as clients or leadership.
- Participating in continuing education and training to remain current on best practices, learn new trends, and better assist other team members.
- Taking lead on projects, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Provisioning of MySQL instances.
- Responsible for ensuring performance, security, and availability of databases.
- Prepare documentation and specifications.
- Understanding of database software management (patch and version management).
- Valuable scripting ability and working knowledge of Shell Scripts or Python.
- Hands-on with data modelling, database designing and implementing database replication strategies.
- Ability to plan resource requirements from high-level specifications.
- Ability to make sound decisions with the information at hand, with the end goal of better customer experience.
- Must be good at time management, collaborative and self-motivated.
- Excellent organizational skills allowing to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Should be moderate at verbal and written communication.
Education and Experience Required
- Full-time bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science or similar diploma or degree courses.
- Total Work experience should be 2-3 years in database administration.
- Experience in recent versions of MySQL and related products.
- Strong understanding of performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Experienced in data modelling, database designing and implementation.
