Sidel Machine Engineer – 2-Stage PET Stretch Blow Molding

Position Title

Sidel Machine Engineer (2-Stage PET Bottle Manufacturing)

Engineering Manager / Production Manager

Purpose of the Role

To operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Sidel 2-stage PET stretch blow molding machines for efficient production of PET bottles while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation & Process Control

- Operate and monitor Sidel 2-stage PET blow molding machines (SBO, Matrix, Universal, EvoBLOW).
- Set and optimize machine parameters including:
- Oven temperature profiles
- Preform heating settings
- Stretch rod timing
- Pre-blow and final blow pressures
- Mold cooling parameters
- Ensure smooth production startup, changeovers, and shutdowns.
- Monitor production efficiency and bottle quality throughout the shift.

2. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

- Execute preventive maintenance schedules for all Sidel equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and process-related issues.
- Troubleshoot:
- Bottle deformation
- Base instability
- Neck ovality
- Pearl formation
- Wall thickness variation
- Air leakage issues
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- Maintain critical spare parts inventory.

3. Quality Assurance

- Ensure bottles meet customer and internal specifications.
- Monitor:
- Bottle weight
- Dimensions
- Top load strength
- Burst pressure
- Visual appearance
- Transparency and haze




- Conduct quality checks during startup and production runs.
- Support root cause analysis for customer complaints and quality issues.

4. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Reduce:
- Scrap generation
- Bottle rejection rates
- Energy consumption
- Compressed air consumption
- Lead Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and TPM initiatives.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

5. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures and SOPs.
- Follow Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) practices during maintenance activities.
- Maintain GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001, and food safety requirements.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.

6. Team Coordination

- Train operators and technicians on machine operation and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Utilities, and Production departments.
- Support recent bottle development and trials.

Educational Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Production Engineering.

Experience

Engineer

- 4–8 years of experience in PET bottle manufacturing.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Sidel blow molding machines.
