Position: Assistant Store Manager – Supermarket
Department: Store Operations
Location: Cuddalore
Reports To: Store Manager
Experience: 2–5 Years
Salary: ₹20,000 – ₹25,000 per Month

Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in managing day-to-day supermarket operations, ensuring excellent customer service, effective staff management, inventory control, sales performance, and compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations

- Assist in managing daily store operations and ensure smooth functioning of all departments.
- Ensure proper store cleanliness, product merchandising, and visual standards.
- Monitor stock availability and coordinate with suppliers/warehouse for timely replenishment.
- Ensure accurate pricing and proper display of promotional products.

Staff Management

- Supervise and coordinate store staff, including cashiers, stock associates, and department employees.
- Assist with staff scheduling, shift planning, attendance monitoring, and performance management.
- Provide training, coaching, and feedback to employees.
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of current employees.

Customer Service

- Maintain high standards of customer service across the store.
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and escalations professionally and promptly.
- Monitor checkout operations and ensure efficient billing with minimum customer waiting time.

Inventory & Loss Prevention





- Monitor stock levels and conduct regular stock audits and cycle counts.
- Identify and control stock shrinkage, theft, damages, and product spoilage.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of perishable products.

Sales & Administrative Responsibilities

- Assist in cash management, daily sales reconciliation, and operational reporting.
- Support sales targets, cost control, and budget adherence.
- Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and staff attendance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and operational procedures.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
- Follow and enforce emergency and safety procedures within the store.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in retail/supermarket operations.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in retail or supermarket operations, preferably with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Good knowledge of inventory management and POS systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Good team management and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and retail management software.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
