The Automation Programming Engineer will be responsible for developing, configuring, and maintaining Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and PLC-based automation platforms (Allen Bradley / Siemens) for pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. The role ensures seamless integration of automation systems with production processes, compliance with regulatory standards, and continuous improvement in system reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- System Development & Programming
- Design, program, and configure automation systems using Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms.
- Develop control logic, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and batch automation sequences.
- Ensure robust integration of automation systems with manufacturing equipment.
- Operations & Support
- Provide day-to-day support for automation systems across production, utilities, and packaging.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance for automation systems.
- Compliance & Validation
- Ensure automation systems comply with cGMP, USFDA, EMA, WHO, and other global regulatory standards.
- Support validation, qualification, and change control activities for automation systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation of programming, configurations, and system changes.
- Projects & Upgrades
- Participate in automation projects, expansions, and technology upgrades.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for new equipment integration and process automation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in automation and digitalization.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics Engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in automation engineering within pharmaceutical or regulated industries.
- Hands-on expertise in programming and configuring Allen Bradley and Siemens DCS/PLC systems.
- Experience with SCADA/HMI platforms and batch automation systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and validation practices in pharma manufacturing.
