Job Description: A General Welder fabricates, repairs, and joins metal parts and structures using specialized tools like MIG, TIG, or ARC welding equipment based on blueprints and specifications. Responsibilities include cutting materials, inspecting welds for quality, operating safety equipment, and maintaining tools to ensure exact, code-compliant fabrication. Key Responsibilities:

- Fabrication & Welding: Joining metal components using MIG, TIG, Stick, or Flux-cored techniques in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to determine layout and welding techniques.
- Preparation & Cutting: Preparing metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, or using torches (plasma/oxy-fuel) to cut materials to size.
- Quality Control: Inspecting completed welds for accuracy, defects,



and compliance with structural standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintaining and troubleshooting welding machinery and tools.
- Safety Compliance: Adhering to strict safety protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE and maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements:

- Proven experience as a welder, often requiring certification (e.g., AWS).
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication, welding techniques, and metallurgy.
- Physical stamina for lifting, standing, and working in tight or high spaces.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
