Job Description: A PLC Operator for a coal washery is responsible for operating and monitoring automated coal processing equipment using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to ensure the coal meets quality standards. Key duties include monitoring and adjusting process parameters via the control panel, performing quality control tests, and troubleshooting equipment issues to minimize downtime. The role requires robust technical skills in operating machinery, understanding PLC logic, and performing routine maintenance. Core responsibilities

- Equipment operation: Monitor and control various machinery, such as crushers, screens, pumps, and conveyor systems, to wash, size, and prepare coal for processing and sale.
- PLC monitoring and control: Use the PLC's control panel to adjust settings for air, water, and coal flow, and ensure the equipment operates at optimal performance.
- Quality control: Perform physical and chemical tests on processed coal to ensure it meets ash content specifications and has minimal loss of usable coal.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve problems with the automated system and machinery to prevent production interruptions.
- Maintenance:



Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure its proper functioning.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of plant operations, quality tests, and maintenance activities.

Required skills and qualifications
- Technical skills: Proficiency in operating automated machinery and understanding industrial control systems, including PLCs.
- Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and fix issues with automated equipment and PLC systems.
- Quality assurance: Knowledge of testing procedures to verify the quality of processed coal.
- Safety: Strong adherence to safety procedures in a potentially hazardous industrial environment.
- Education: Often requires an ITI certification in a related field like Electrician or Electronic System Maintenance, or equivalent experience.

Other potential duties
- Modify PLC programs to interface with existing or new systems.
