Job Summary

The General Manager – EPC Projects will lead the end-to-end execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from engineering through procurement, construction, commissioning, testing, and handover. The role is responsible for delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality, statutory, and grid requirements. The incumbent will manage multidisciplinary teams, EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, utilities, and customers while ensuring successful execution of standalone and renewable-integrated BESS projects.

Key Responsibilities 1. Project Leadership & Execution

- Lead complete EPC execution of utility-scale BESS projects from Notice to Proceed (NTP) through Commercial Operation Date (COD).
- Develop and manage project execution plans, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Deliver projects within scope, budget, quality, and schedule commitments.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays.
- Ensure smooth transition from engineering to procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.

2. Engineering Management
- Review and approve engineering deliverables including:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
- General Arrangement Drawings (GA)
- Protection Schemes
- Cable Schedules
- Earthing & Lightning Protection
- Civil & Structural Designs

- Coordinate with engineering consultants and OEMs for design optimization.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, grid codes, and statutory regulations.

3. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Oversee procurement of major equipment:
- Battery Containers
- Battery Racks & Modules
- PCS (Power Conversion System)
- EMS (Energy Management System)
- Transformers
- RMU/Switchgear
- SCADA
- HVAC & Fire Protection Systems

- Evaluate technical bids and support techno-commercial negotiations.
- Manage supplier performance,



manufacturing progress, FAT, inspections, and logistics.

4. Construction Management
- Lead site mobilization and construction activities.
- Manage civil, electrical, mechanical, and installation contractors.
- Ensure adherence to construction schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor productivity, material utilization, and subcontractor performance.
- Resolve site execution challenges proactively.

5. Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Lead installation and integration of:
- Battery Containers
- PCS
- Transformers
- HT Panels
- Protection Systems
- EMS & SCADA

- Oversee FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning, performance testing, and grid synchronization.
- Ensure successful project acceptance and customer handover.

6. Grid Interconnection & Regulatory Compliance
- Coordinate with DISCOMs, STUs, CTU, utilities, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable grid codes, statutory approvals, and safety regulations.
- Manage energization approvals and final project acceptance.
- Support performance guarantee testing and contractual compliance.

7. Commercial & Contract Management
- Manage EPC contracts and subcontract agreements.
- Monitor project cash flow, billing, collections, and cost control.
- Review change orders, variation claims, and commercial risks.
- Support contract negotiations and dispute resolution.

8. Project Controls & Risk Management
- Establish project governance and reporting systems.
- Track project KPIs, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.




- Conduct periodic project reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive risk mitigation and contingency planning.

9. Quality, EHS & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- ISO 9001
- ISO 14001
- ISO 45001
- IEC Standards
- BIS Requirements
- Local Electrical Safety Regulations

- Promote a zero-harm safety culture across all project sites.
- Lead project quality audits and corrective actions.

10. Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary interface with customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with developers, EPC partners, consultants, OEMs, and government authorities.
- Present project progress, technical updates, and commercial status to senior management.
- Build long-term customer relationships to support repeat business.

Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Systems, or Civil Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM in Project Management or Operations is preferred.
- PMP®, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is an added advantage.

Experience
- 18–22 years of experience in EPC project execution.
- Minimum 8 years in senior project leadership roles.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale utility or renewable energy projects.

Preferred experience in:

- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Solar + BESS Hybrid Projects
- Renewable Energy EPC
- High Voltage Substations (33 kV–400 kV)
- Transmission & Distribution
- Power Infrastructure Projects
