A maintenance engineer's job is to ensure that machinery continues to function properly.

This means that they need to have extensive knowledge of how machinery works and how to repair it. This can include knowing how to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and diagrams.

A mechanical maintenance manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all mechanical systems and maintenance-related activities in a company. Their responsibilities include:

- Maintenance management Managing all maintenance procedures and operations, including upgrades and installations
- Equipment management Ensuring that all machinery is up to working standards and that there is a preventive maintenance plan in place
- Budget management Creating and managing department budgets,



tracking expenses, and ensuring that maintenance plans are within budget
- Inventory management Maintaining an inventory of products and tools, and ordering and negotiating spare parts
- Team management Managing the maintenance team, delegating tasks, and training new employees
- Compliance Ensuring that all work is in line with legal and safety regulations
- Reporting Preparing regular reports on work orders, inventory, equipment maintenance, progress, and status updates
- Strategy Identifying and implementing a proactive maintenance strategy, and looking for ways to improve productivity and cut costs
- Culture Fostering an creative and inclusive organizational culture
