Principal Tasks and Responsibilities

- Lead the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) team and drive overall patent strategy.
- Provide IP support to API, NCE, Formulation, NDDS, Biotech, New Product Development (NPD), Marketing, Business teams, Cadila subsidiaries, and research collaborators.
- Review patent literature and develop ANDA filing strategies for selected products.
- Support New Product Selection activities by analyzing granted patents and patent applications.
- Ensure the Freedom to Operate (FTO) for Cadila's API, NCE, and Formulation products across various global markets.
- Provide IP clearance for proposed strategies related to API, NCE, Formulation Development (FnD), and NDDS projects.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive written FTO and non-infringement analysis reports within stipulated timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for securing recent intellectual property rights.
- Design and implement patent filing strategies for obtaining patent protection in key global territories.




- Draft, file, prosecute, and defend patent applications by responding to office actions to secure patent grants worldwide.
- Effectively manage the company's patent portfolio and related IP assets.
- Conduct third-party intellectual property due diligence.
- Organize and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions on patents and intellectual property.
- Motivate, mentor, and guide the IPR team to achieve high performance and continuous improvement.
- File post-grant oppositions whenever required.
- Defend granted patents against challenges and oppositions.
- Conduct comprehensive literature searches using paid and public patent databases such as Sci Finder and Pat Seer.
- Prepare, review, and evaluate Patent Landscape Reports, Literature Search Reports (LSRs), Formulation Disclosure Reports, and Literature Toolkit (LTK) reports.
- Monitor global patent trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to support strategic business decisions.
