Job DescriptionA Control Tester is responsible for assessing whether key business, financial, compliance, IT, and operational controls are designed effectively and operating as intended. The role ensures the bank meets internal policies, regulatory expectations and reduces operational risks.

NKey Responsibilities

n1. Control Testing Execution

NPerform design effectiveness (DE) and operating effectiveness (OE) testing of internal controls.

NDevelop detailed test scripts, sampling plans, and walkthroughs.

NConduct evidence-based testing for:

NFinancial reporting controls

NOperational and IT general controls (ITGC)

NRegulatory compliance controls

N2. Documentation & Evidence Review

NCollect and review evidence such as logs, screenshots, system reports, approvals, workflows, and audit trails.

NDocument test results in GRC tools (ServiceNow IRM, Archer, MetricStream, etc.).

NMaintain high-quality workpapers aligned to internal audit standards.

N3. Issue Identification &Reporting;

NIdentify control gaps, process breakdowns, and residual risks.

NRate issues based on severity and regulatory impact.

NPrepare transparent, concise reports for stakeholders such as Risk Owners, Process Owners, and Audit Teams.

N4. Stakeholder Management





NLiaise with 1st line of defense (business + operations) to understand processes.

NWork with 2nd line of defense (Risk & Compliance) to refine control frameworks.

NPartner with Internal Audit for alignment on scope and testing methodology.

N5. Continuous Monitoring & Improvement ,Participate in control self-assessment (CSA / RCSA) cycles.Support root-cause analysis and remediation validation.

NAssist in enhancing control libraries, risk registers, and process maps.

N6. Regulatory & Policy Alignment

NEnsure testing aligns with regulatory requirements

NRequired Skills & Competencies

NTechnical Skills

nUnderstanding of risk and control frameworks (COSO, COBIT).

NKnowledge of banking / Insurance processes

NProficiency in GRC tools: ServiceNow IRM, Archer, MetricStream, Workiva.

NBehavioral Skills

nStrong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.

NExcellent documentation and communication skills.

NAttention to detail and adherence to testing standards.

NQualifications

nBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Commerce, or IT.

NPreferred certifications:

NCISA, CA, CPA, IIA, etc
