Role Description The Java Specialist will contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software tools that support the Taskforce’s research, data analysis, and policy initiatives. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing Java-based applications, integrating data sources and APIs, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring software reliability and security.

The specialist will collaborate with researchers, policy experts, and healthcare stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable technical solutions and provide clear documentation for non-technical users. This is a part-time remote role, offering flexibility in working hours while requiring regular communication and coordination with an international team.

Qualifications
Robust proficiency in Java development, including object-oriented programming and core Java libraries.
Experience with frameworks and tools such as Spring/Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle, and RESTful API development.




Understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL), data integration, and basic data modeling concepts.
Skills in software testing, debugging, and code optimization to ensure performance and reliability.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and team-oriented development workflows.
Ability to document code and technical workflows clearly for multidisciplinary teams.
Experience working in remote, distributed teams, with strong self-organization and time management.
Knowledge of or interest in healthcare, cardiovascular research, or public health domains is beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Robust communication skills and an inclusive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.
