PURPOSE The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, specification, and coordination of mechanical building services systems. The role involves developing solutions for heating,

ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), domestic water services, and drainage. The Mechanical Design

Engineer ensures that all designs are energy efficient, meet the client's brief, and comply with all relevant statutory regulations (e.g., Building

Regulations Part L, F, and G). By providing high quality technical documentation and 3D models, the

Design Engineer enables the site teams to install complex plant and distribution systems with minimal disruption.

Guides, BESA standards, and local Building

Regulations.- Coordination Excellence: Achievement of a "Zero

Clash" status within the 3D BIM setting for all mechanical services.- Sustainability Performance: Delivery of designs that achieve targeted EPC ratings and carbon reduction goals (e.g., Net Zero Carbon pathways).- Technical Accuracy: 100% accuracy in heat loss/gain calculations and pipe/duct sizing to ensure system performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Designing in conjunction with specifications and





client requirements.
Meeting project delivery deadlines.
Attendance at design team meetings.
Managing the upkeep of the project Design

tracker.
Review and incorporate inputs from other

disciplines or stakeholders into the overall design.
Carrying out site surveys of existing installations

and inspections.
Production of stage reports & presentations.
Sourcing of the most modern and productive

Mechanical components for designs.
Prepare contractors proposals for issue to clients.
Liaising with clients, managing external

consultants and designers.
Prepare and manage design, drawn information

and drawing revisions effectively.
Production of detailed design briefs, BOD's and

survey reports.
Identify and resolve problems early, carry out all

work in a qualified manner.
Performs design specifications/calculations and

technical studies/reports.
Monitor contract progress with regards to

targeted project outcomes, quality management systems, contract specification and customer expectations.
Provide technical assistance to project team
