We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with solid AutoCAD skills and exposure to heavy fabrication and steel plant equipment.
The role involves preparing fabrication drawings, weight calculations, and cost estimation for industrial equipment such as ladles, tundish cars, structures, and steelplant equipment assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare 2D fabrication drawings using AutoCAD from GA drawings
Interpret technical drawings and extract required dimensions
Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials) and weight calculations
Assist in cost estimation (raw material, fabrication, machining, etc.)
Coordinate with shop floor for drawing clarification
Support in preparation of quotation documents
Ensure drawings are practical and aligned with fabrication feasibility
Required Skills:
Solid knowledge of AutoCAD (2D drafting)
Good understanding of fabrication drawings & welding details
Ability to calculate: Plate weight, Structural weight, Shaft/roll weight
Basic knowledge of: Materials (IS2062, EN8, SA516, etc.), Fabrication processes
Experience Required: 5 to 7 years in: Heavy fabrication / steel plant equipment / industrial machinery. Candidates must be able to:
Read drawings independently
Perform basic weight calculation
Understand fabrication requirements
