A Quality Control (QC) Chemist specializing in Gas Chromatography (GC) analyzes raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet strict safety, purity, and regulatory standards. They prepare samples, operate GC instruments, interpret chromatograms, and maintain strict laboratory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Sample Analysis: Prepare and test chemical compounds using GC to identify, quantify, and separate volatile substances. [1, 2]
Instrument Operation: Set up, operate, and troubleshoot GC systems (e.g., Flame Ionization Detectors, Mass Spectrometry). [1, 2]
Calibration & Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, and system suitability tests on GC equipment. [1, 2]
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all testing procedures strictly follow Valuable Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Positive Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Accurately record data, validate analytical methods, and generate compliance reports. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving:



Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and resolve issues with analytical methods or equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field. [1, 2]
Experience: Typically 1 to 5+ years of hands-on experience working in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or food/dairy quality control laboratory. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
