The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications and related supplies using accepted pharmaceutical techniques. This includes fulfilling prescriptions issued by physicians and other authorized prescribers to ensure patient safety and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispense medications in accordance with prescriptions from registered medical practitioners.
Oversee/perform packaging, labeling, measuring, compounding, storing, charging, and recording of medications.
Review prescriptions for therapy appropriateness, dosage accuracy, and ingredient requirements.
Manage inventory of drugs, chemicals, and supplies.
Advise patients/caregivers on drug interactions, side effects, storage, and usage instructions.
Supervise and train Pharmacy Assistants.
Ensure accurate labeling and secure supply of medicines; accountable for dispensing accuracy.
Maintain records of narcotic and psychotropic drugs, coordinate with doctors regarding prescriptions.
Counsel patients on adverse side effects and treatment interactions.
Arrange timely delivery of prescription medicines to patients.
Oversee ordering and secure storage of medical products.
Maintain computerized records.
Stay updated on current pharmacy practices, recent drugs, and their usage.
