Responsibilities
Providing guidance to design teams wrt technical specification of software/firmware design especially considering international standards, practices, and certification.
Providing guidance to technical design teams regarding evaluation, testing practices and methods and coding.
Implementation of sound and advanced engineering practices.
Organise and chair design reviews.
Firmware Requirement Specifications and Interface Control Specifications.
Specialist knowledge regarding selection and application of hardware devices applicable to Firmware.
Mentoring and training of junior technical personnel.
Provides inputs to management regarding future software requirements and needs.
Assist in the generation of a technology horizon plan that includes resources and software development tools.
Qualifications
A minimum of 15 years’ experience in the FPGA/Microcontroller Firmware Development.
Knowledge of software/firmware system/subsystem design with application in the precision guided munition domain.
At least 3 years’ experience in the certification/classification methodology of software.
Electronic/Software Eng. degree. (Batchelor, Honours, Masters is an advantage.)

Demonstrate advanced skill and experience regarding software/firmware principles and system design.
Communication skill level that is transparent, ensure cohesion and advance enthusiasm amongst team members, management and customers.
Knowledge of best practices, engineering standards and development methodologies applicable in the defence industry.
Demonstrate the ability to take ownership and responsibility for short term operations.
Should be able to assist in longer term planning for the expansion of technical ability.
Thorough understanding of the systems engineering process (Requirements, analysis, design, integration, verification, certification and configuration mana
