A quality engineer, also known as a quality assurance engineer, is responsible for the quality of products and processes in a manufacturing or development setting. Their duties include:
Defining quality standards: Establishing standards for products to meet, and developing testing methods to measure quality
Identifying and fixing issues: Identifying problems in products and processes, and working to solve them
Testing: Testing systems, procedures, and products to ensure they meet standards
Monitoring: Monitoring the production cycle for malfunctions and productivity issues
Updating systems:
Updating quality management systems with incidents, repairs, and improvements
Creating documentation: Creating documentation on quality and safety
Collaborating: Working with other departments, such as engineering, production, and support, to ensure quality standards are met
Recommending solutions: Recommending solutions to improve quality, customer satisfaction, or reduce costs
Quality engineers should have skills in problem-solving, attention to detail, and knowledge of quality management systems. They should also be able to work well in a team and have excellent time-management skills
