Job Description:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions. You will work with a team of engineers to build and maintain high-quality software products. Your responsibilities include:

Design and deliver scalable and fault tolerant enterprise platforms, services and applications that meet exacting service level and operational requirements.
Participate in small agile teams developing and delivering enterprise solutions serving multiple lines of business, products, markets, and geographies.
Develop RESTful services and customer facing web applications.
Demonstrates deep expertise in technical design and software development in multiple programming languages, frameworks and data stores.
Engage with peers across the organization on integrations between the platform and other Scholastic enterprise services such as product data, order management, identity and analytics.
Assist in acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning as required.




Ensure that development efforts exemplify Scholastic’s engineering and quality best practices.
Demonstrates deep expertise in technical design and in a core programming language
Partitions requirements into actionable, tightly scoped work items that solve for both functional and non-functional aspects
Articulates and recommends a range of technical solutions for a given set of requirements that balance tactical and strategic objectives

Experience :
Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and scaling web services and applications.
Deep expertise in service oriented architectures and RESTful APIs.
Expert level knowledge of the contemporary Java ecosystem, tooling, and best practices.
Experience implementing solutions using Document DBs (e.g. Mongo) as well as relational DBs. data persistence and distribution strategies and implementations.
