A machine operator's job is to set up, operate, and maintain machines to ensure productive production. Some of their responsibilities include:
Preparing machines: Cleaning, calibrating, and preparing machines for production
Monitoring machines: Adjusting settings, monitoring equipment, and performing regular inspections
Quality assurance: Checking parts and output for defects, and maintaining quality standards
Maintenance: Performing minor repairs and troubleshooting issues
Safety: Following safety rules and procedures, and maintaining a protected work environment
Training: Training current machine operators
Records: Creating and managing records of approved and defective units
Physical tasks: Remaining in challenging positions for long periods, and lifting heavy objects
Machine operators may work with a variety of equipment, including electronic, computer-operated, and manual machines. They may also work in a manufacturing plant, construction site, or other professional setting.
