Job Summary:
The Fellowship in Glaucoma at Eye Mantra offers a comprehensive training program designed for those wishing to specialize in the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of glaucoma. Fellows will receive extensive clinical exposure, hands-on training, and experience with the latest diagnostic tools and therapeutic interventions for glaucoma patients.
Program Details:
OPD & Procedures:
Intensive training in the examination and workup of patients with glaucoma.
Access to advanced diagnostic procedures, including Tonometry, Perimetry, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), Fundus Photography, and Gonioscopy.
Regular postings in OPDs with opportunities to manage independent glaucoma cases under the supervision of experienced mentors.
Exposure to both primary and secondary glaucomas, including open-angle, angle-closure, and pediatric glaucoma.
Program Structure:
First 3 Months: Induction Phase
Comprehensive introduction to glaucoma diagnosis and management.
Hands-on experience in performing diagnostic tests, including visual field testing, tonometry, OCT, and Gonioscopy.
Training in assessing optic nerve head (ONH) changes, retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) analysis, and interpreting imaging studies.
Detailed exposure to the pathophysiology of glaucoma, and patient case discussions focused on medical and surgical treatment options.
Familiarity with the pharmacological management of glaucoma, including prostaglandin analogs, beta-blockers, alpha agonists, and combination therapies.
Next 3 Months: Advanced Clinical and Surgical Training
Advanced clinical training in the management of complex glaucoma cases.
In-depth exposure to surgical treatments such as Trabeculectomy, Tube Shunt Surgery, and MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery).
Hands-on training for performing surgical procedures under supervision, with prospects to assist in surgeries.
Introduction to newer techniques like Endoscopic Cyclophotocoagulation (ECP) and Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT).
Participation in glaucoma-related clinical research, discussions, and evidence-based case management.
