- Functions in a leadership and supervisory role for all staff of Operation Theatre.
- Responsible for assisting with supervision, direction and coordination of all activities related to OT.
- Makes appropriate room and care giver assignments to optimize patient placement and workload balance throughout the shift.
- Develops objectives for the management of the unit.
- Ensure staff discipline.
- Works as the Single Point of Contact for OT and coordinate with the Nursing Head on improving patient care and customer satisfaction.
- Promotes setting of cooperation and mutual support to maintain focus on patient care; anticipates and supports needs of other staff.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, demonstrate delegation skill and develop good interpersonal relationship with patient, staff, physicians and visitors.
- Maintains quality of patient care including compliance with prescribed treatment and hospital policy.
- Utilizes all personnel available to obtain maximum patientcare services.
- Evaluates work performed by all staff members and inform staff of information necessary to the performance of their jobs.
- Investigates and identifies nursing problems and grievances and assist in their solutions, reports resolved and unresolved results to the Nursing- HOD.
- Assists on orientation of new personnel and participate in continuing educational program and clinical trainings.
- Conducts regular staff meetings.
- Prepare weekly duty Rota for all staff including Nursing & Technicians.
- Ensure to give adequate coverage of staff for 24 hrs.
- Operates the unit within budgeted levels of staffing, supplies and equipment-recommends staffing patterns.
- Reports and document all accidents / incident to patients, visitors or staff.
- Report promptly any unusual occurrence to the respective reporting Head e.g. medication errors, complaint, VIP's or staff admitted, etc
- Maintains uptodate knowledge of new developments in the health field.
- Coordinates health education program in the unit.
- Conducts periodical survey to ensure clinical care standards that include nursing care standards as well.
- Ensures patientcare services according to established procedures and policies in the unit.
- Ensure assistance to doctors in booking schedule of OT, in procedures and other related duties.
- Meets patients regularly to ensure maximum care and ascertain need for additional or modified services.
- Supervises maintenance of records of nursing, technicians and medical treatment and related services carried out by nursing and others in the department.
- Ensures proper utilization of supplies and power to avoid wastage.
- Maintains adequate supplies and equipment for daily use and carry out periodic inventory.
- Assists in the safekeeping of valuables.
- Safeguards patients' safety at all times.
- Ensures work place is always neat and clean.
- Acts promptly in emergency situation.
- Contributes to all quality movements/projects related to Hospital
- Coordination with biomedical and materials
- Coordination with CSSD and OT store
- Capturing and regular submission of quality parameters of OT
- Conduct Accreditation related trainings
- Coordinator for the OT committee
- To participate comprehensively in all quality department.
- Ensure to obtain surgical codes from Surgeons and close the OT module same day for accurate billing.
- Training Doctors on OT Schedules
- Raising OT Codes Daily
- Any other jobs assigned by superior.
