Position Senior HIS QA Analyst
Department Information Technology (IT)
Location HN Hospital, Mumbai
Job Summary
The Senior HIS QA Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of the Hospital Information System (HIS) and its integrated applications. The role involves planning and executing test strategies, validating new features and enhancements, identifying defects, coordinating with development and application support teams, and ensuring that healthcare applications meet business, clinical, regulatory, and quality standards before deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scenarios for HIS applications.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, system, user acceptance (UAT), and smoke testing.
- Validate new application releases, enhancements, patches, and configuration changes before production deployment.
- Analyze business requirements and functional specifications to ensure complete test coverage.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects using defect management tools.
- Work closely with developers, application support teams, business users, and vendors to resolve application defects.
- Verify defect fixes and ensure successful closure through re-testing.
- Participate in requirement review meetings to identify potential quality risks during the design phase.
- Ensure application compliance with hospital workflows, patient safety standards, and organizational policies.
- Prepare test data, maintain test environments, and validate data integrity across integrated systems.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
by coordinating with clinical and administrative stakeholders.
- Review system interfaces and validate data exchange between HIS and integrated applications such as LIS, RIS, PACS, Pharmacy, Billing, EMR, and ERP systems.
- Develop and maintain QA documentation, including test plans, test reports, defect logs, traceability matrices, and release sign-off documents.
- Participate in application implementation, upgrades, migration projects, and production readiness reviews.
- Mentor junior QA analysts and provide guidance on testing standards and best practices.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance software quality and testing efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
- ISTQB, CSTE, or equivalent QA certification is preferred.
- Healthcare IT or Hospital Information System certifications are an added advantage.
Experience
- 58 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, including at least 3 years in Hospital Information Systems (HIS) or healthcare applications.
- Experience testing HIS, EMR, LIS, RIS, PACS, Pharmacy, Billing, ERP, or other healthcare solutions.
- Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC),
Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), Agile, or Waterfall methodologies.
Technical Skills
- Robust knowledge of software testing methodologies and QA best practices.
- Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools.
- Knowledge of SQL for data validation and backend testing.
- Understanding of healthcare workflows and hospital operations.
- Experience in API, interface, and integration testing.
- Knowledge of database concepts and system integrations.
- Familiarity with automation testing tools is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
