- We design and manufacture powder coating equipment plant and machinery in the capital-goods category.
- We're rolling out current purchase and inventory / BOM management software, and we need a Cost Accountant who can own product costing end-to-end and act as the financial bridge between our design, warehouse, and vendor / purchase functions.
- This is not a bookkeeping role. You'll turn our bills of materials into accurate product costs, keep inventory valued correctly, control material and purchase costs, and help make the new system the single source of truth across teams that today still run on Excel and WhatsApp.

Role & responsibilities

1. Product costing & BOM

- Build and maintain standard costs for each product by rolling up component costs from bills of materials (BOMs).
- Update costing whenever design revises a BOM a new component, a spec change, or a substitution and flag
- the cost impact.
- Calculate cost of finished goods and work-in-progress; maintain accurate, current cost sheets.

2. Inventory valuation & control

- Value raw materials, WIP, and finished goods using the appropriate method (FIFO / weighted average).
- Reconcile book stock against physical stock; investigate and resolve discrepancies rather than just reporting them.
- Set and maintain reorder levels and safety stock together with warehouse and operations.
- Run periodic stock takes and post adjustments with proper documentation.

3. Purchase & material cost control

- Track material and vendor costs; analyse purchase price variances.
- Evaluate vendor quotes on a landed-cost basis price, freight, taxes, and lead time, not headline price alone.
- Surface cost overruns and savings opportunities to management.

Variance & margin analysis

- Compare standard vs actual costs; analyse material, labour, and overhead variances.
- Report product-level and order-level margins.
- Explain the why behind cost movements, not just the numbers.

5. Systems & implementation

- Own item master, vendor master, BOM, and costing data inside the new purchase / inventory software.
- Safeguard data integrity through go-live and beyond; drive adoption among teams still working off spreadsheets.
- Be the costing-side point person for the rollout.

6. Coordination core to this role

- Work with design to get clean, costable BOMs.
- Work with warehouse to keep stock records accurate.
- Work with purchase / vendors on pricing, lead times, and cost negotiation.
- Report to management with clear cost MIS and actionable recommendations.

7. Compliance & reporting

- Prepare monthly cost reports and MIS.
- Support GST on purchases, e-invoicing, e-way bills, TDS, and period-close.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Working understanding of BOMs, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
- Hands-on with Tally and/or an ERP (SAP, Busy, or similar); advanced Excel.
- Strong grounding in reconciliation and GST / TDS compliance.
- Genuine coordination and communication skills comfortable holding the line across design, warehouse, and
- vendors who don't report to you.
- Ownership mindset: chases issues to closure instead of escalating and waiting.
