Key Roles & Responsibilities (KRAs)
1. Strategic MEP Leadership
- Develop and implement the organization's MEP strategy aligned with overall business and project objectives.
- Establish engineering standards, technical governance, and best practices across all projects.
- Drive innovation, value engineering, energy efficiency, and sustainable MEP solutions.
- Develop departmental policies, SOPs, and technical guidelines to ensure consistency in project execution.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, lifecycle performance, and cost optimization.
2. Project Planning, Execution & Delivery
- Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of all MEP works across residential, commercial, mixed-use, and township developments.
- Ensure projects are completed within approved timelines, budgets, quality standards, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to minimize delays and cost overruns.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, project handover, and close-out activities.
- Ensure seamless coordination between design, procurement, construction, and project management teams.
3. Technical Governance & Design Management
- Provide technical leadership for all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection, ELV, BMS, and utility systems.
- Review and approve MEP designs, technical specifications, shop drawings, and engineering submissions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, statutory regulations, and industry standards.
- Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize cost, quality, functionality, and maintainability.
- Resolve complex technical challenges and provide engineering guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Financial & Commercial Management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets,
resource plans, and cost forecasts.
- Monitor project costs and ensure effective financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive cost optimization through value engineering, efficient procurement, and resource utilization.
- Evaluate technical and commercial aspects of contracts, variations, claims, and procurement decisions.
- Support commercial teams in contractor evaluation, tendering, and contract negotiations.
5. Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing MEP engineering team.
- Establish performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Identify training needs and enhance technical competencies across the department.
- Foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing among cross-functional teams.
- Build succession plans and develop future technical leaders within the organization.
6. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, architects, contractors, project teams, and regulatory authorities.
- Collaborate closely with internal departments including Design, Projects, Procurement, Contracts, Planning, QA/QC, CRM, and Finance.
- Evaluate and manage the performance of MEP consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Ensure timely resolution of technical issues and stakeholder concerns.
- Drive strategic partnerships with key suppliers and technology providers.
7. Quality Assurance & Operational Excellence
- Establish and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes for all MEP activities.
- Ensure compliance with approved specifications, technical standards, and project quality requirements.
- Conduct technical audits, inspections, and quality reviews throughout project execution.
- Capture lessons learned and implement continuous improvement initiatives across projects.
- Promote standardization of engineering practices and construction methodologies.
8. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all MEP construction activities.
- Monitor implementation of HSE policies, safety audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
- Support sustainability initiatives through energy-effective designs, resource conservation, and environmentally responsible engineering practices.
- Ensure all MEP installations meet applicable safety and environmental standards before commissioning and handover.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Timely delivery of MEP works within approved budgets.
- Zero critical quality defects at project handover.
- Successful completion of testing, commissioning, and statutory approvals.
- Reduction in project cost through value engineering initiatives.
