About the Role
India Agro Exports is seeking a agile and result-oriented Sales Manager to drive growth across its Gherkin and Agro product portfolio. The role owns recent buyer acquisition, expansion of existing accounts, and faithful execution of every confirmed order to specification, on time and within agreed terms. Working alongside Sales Leadership and the Director, the incumbent will help build market strategy, extend distribution, manage key accounts and deliver targets in assigned territories.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Development and Buyer Acquisition
- Identify, qualify and convert new buyers across assigned markets.
- Build a documented territory plan for each market covering demand size, competing origins, incumbent suppliers, price positioning and route to entry.
- Manage the sample cycle end to end; Brief specifications to Product Development; Secure buyer feedback and drive conversion to first commercial order.
- Assess and select buyers in line with Company's certification and capacity profile.
2. Account Management and Order Execution
- Serve as the single commercial point of contact for assigned accounts.
- Convert buyer requirements into transparent internal specification briefs.
- Coordinate with Production and Planning to secure capacity slots against confirmed orders, and with Export Documentation and Logistics on container booking, freight rates, shipping lines and vessel schedules.
- Track each order against the confirmed shipment window and give the buyer early, honest notice of any deviation.
3. Product, Quality and Certification Interface
- Translate market and buyer feedback into structured new product and new pack briefs for the Product Development team covering the gherkin range as well as adjacent lines such as jalapeos, baby corn etc.,
- Communicate buyer complaints promptly and accurately to Quality Assurance, participate in root cause analysis, and issue the formal response and corrective action commitment to the buyer within agreed timelines.
- Maintain current awareness of destination-market regulatory requirements and flag any change that affects supply commitments.
- Support buyer and third-party audits as required.
4. Planning, Forecasting and Crop Alignment
- Prepare and maintain a rolling buyer-wise, SKU-wise volume forecast, and take accountability for its accuracy as a planning input.
- Align sales commitments to ensure season-linked availability is reflected in what is promised to buyers.
- Prepare the annual sales plan for your assigned territories, covering expected volume, revenue, average realization and the share of the target that depends on new buyers.
- Support each number with a clear basis a named buyer,
a confirmed listing or a live opportunity — and explain any change from the previous year's actual performance.
5. Market Intelligence and Reporting
- Track competing origin pricing, freight movements, currency trends and buyer-side consolidation, and circulate a periodic market note to the Head of Sales and management.
- Maintain complete, current records of buyer contacts, enquiries, quotations, samples and order history in the Company's CRM / Sales Register.
- Publish agreed periodic reports on order book, shipment status, pipeline, receivables and new business progress in a consistent, review-ready format.
Candidate Profile
1. Essential
- Experience - 10 plus years of experience in international / export sales, with at least last 3 years in Agro products.
- Commercial Ownership – Track record of independently handing international accounts, including negotiation and receivables follow-through.
- Communication – Clear, professional written and spoken English suited to European, North American and Middle Eastern buyer correspondence.
- Systems – Working proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related softwares for pricing and margin workings.
2. Desirable
- Direct exposure to the gherkin, pickled vegetable or canned/jarred food export trade.
- Existing buyer relationships in Western or Eastern Europe, North America, the Middle East, Australia or East Asia.
- Familiarity with retail private label programmes and the associated tender, specification and audit cycles.
- Working knowledge of a second language relevant to a target market.
