Job Role: Mainframe Developer

Experience: 6-8 Years

Location: Chennai

Role & responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with solid expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies, including CICS, COBOL, DB2, JCL, and VSAM. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting CICS-based applications while ensuring high performance, reliability, and adherence to enterprise development standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and support IBM Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
- Design and implement CICS online programs using BMS Maps, pseudo-conversational programming techniques, COMMAREA, and Channels/Containers.
- Develop COBOL-DB2 programs with embedded SQL, cursor processing, transaction handling, and effective error management.
- Analyze and resolve production issues, including application abends, performance bottlenecks, and data-related problems.




- Create and maintain JCL jobs, procedures, symbolic parameters, and batch processing workflows.
- Perform DB2 performance tuning activities, including SQL optimization, access path analysis, EXPLAIN, RUNSTATS, indexing strategies, and buffer pool analysis.
- Optimize CICS transaction performance and improve VSAM file access efficiency.
- Perform debugging using tools such as Abend-AID and CEEDUMP.
- Manage code changes using source control and change management tools such as Endevor or Git.
- Work with job scheduling tools such as Control-M or CA7 for batch operations.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, documentation, and Agile development activities.
