- Review and validate inpatient medical records for accurate Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) assignment.
- Analyze clinical documentation to ensure appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignment as per client guidelines.
- Identify documentation gaps and coding discrepancies that may impact DRG accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with coding standards, payer regulations, and organizational quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate with coding teams, clinical documentation specialists, and quality auditors to resolve DRG-related queries.
- Perform quality audits and provide feedback to improve coding accuracy and productivity.
- Maintain productivity and accuracy targets while adhering to turnaround time (TAT) requirements.
- Stay updated with coding guideline changes, DRG updates, and industry best practices.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, or a related healthcare discipline.
- Certified Skilled Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)preferred.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in inpatient medical coding with hands-on DRG validation experience.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG/APR-DRG methodologies, and clinical documentation review.
- Familiarity with coding software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
