The Role

The Staff Engineer Backend Python is a principal-level technical leader at Droidal. You'll set the architectural direction for the backend systems that underpin all of Droidal's AI agent products owning platform-level decisions, partnering with product and clinical teams on roadmap, and enabling the broader engineering organization to build faster and more reliably. This role has direct influence on Droidal's technical strategy and will help define what "senior engineering" looks like at the company.

What You'll Do

- Own the end-to-end backend architecture for Droidal's AI agent platform from agent orchestration and payer connectivity to data pipelines and RCM workflow engines

- Define and evolve platform-level patterns: service decomposition, data modeling, API contracts, async processing, observability, and resilience

- Partner with the LLM Architect and ML teams to design the integration surface between LLM inference layers and production backend systems

- Drive major technical initiatives: multi-tenancy, high-availability payer integrations, scalable claims processing pipelines, HIPAA-compliant data handling

- Establish and champion engineering excellence design reviews, incident retrospectives, testing standards, and on-call hygiene

- Act as a technical hiring bar-raiser: define the backend engineering profile, conduct interviews, and grow the team

- Represent engineering in product and executive-level conversations; translate complex technical trade-offs into business context

- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers; create leverage across the organization

What You Bring

- 8+ years of software engineering,



with the majority in Python backend systems

- Proven experience as a technical lead or principal engineer owning org-wide architectural decisions, not just team-level ones

- Expert-level knowledge of distributed systems: consistency models, fault tolerance, event sourcing, CQRS, and high-throughput data pipelines

- Deep experience with cloud-native infrastructure (preferably Azure, given Droidal's Azure VNet/VPC architecture), Kubernetes, and observability tooling

- Strong background in designing secure, multi-tenant SaaS platforms HIPAA compliance experience is highly valued

- Experience designing systems that integrate with external APIs at scale (EDI, FHIR, REST payer APIs)- Fluency in LLM/AI system design: prompt pipelines, RAG architectures, agent orchestration, and model serving trade-offs

- Transparent communicator who can write design docs, drive alignment across teams, and build engineering culture

Nice to Have

- Deep healthcare / RCM domain knowledge (payer workflows, eligibility, claims, remittance)

- Experience architecting RPA or browser-automation-based agent systems

- Contributions to open-source Python ecosystem or published technical writing
