Senior Java & Golang Developer

INTRODUCTION

We are hiring a Senior Java & Golang Developer with strong experience of building and supporting enterprise-scale backend applications and cloud-native microservices to join our Information Technology group. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of Java development experience and 5+ years of hands-on Golang experience, with deep expertise in gRPC/Protocol Buffers, microservices architecture, Kubernetes, distributed systems, and production support.

This role is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting high-performance backend services operating within a large-scale insurance and administrative processing environment. The candidate should be comfortable working across the full SDLC, collaborating with onshore/offshore teams, participating in architecture discussions, and delivering production-quality code through modern CI/CD practices.

JOB FUNCTIONS

- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications and high-performance Go-based backend services within a large-scale administrative processing environment.
- Participate actively across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including requirement analysis, design, development, unit/integration testing, and release support.
- Build, maintain, and optimize RESTful APIs and gRPC/Protocol Buffer services using both Java (Spring Boot) and Golang for high-throughput, highly available systems.
- Design, develop, and support microservices-based architectures using Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Go - applying clean separation of concerns, service discovery, centralized configuration, and API gateway patterns.
- Write efficient, reusable, and testable code in both Java and Go, adhering to language-specific best practices and engineering standards.
- Work with distributed systems, handling concurrency, fault tolerance, and scalability - including Go goroutines, channels, and synchronization primitives.
- Implement and support batch processing jobs and nightly batch cycles, including job configuration with predecessor/successor dependencies, FTP-based file transfers, automated notifications, and failure troubleshooting.
- Integrate applications with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) using Hibernate, Spring Data JPA, and native Go database drivers; apply strong SQL, data modeling,



indexing, and query optimization skills.
- Provide production support for business-critical applications, including root cause analysis, defect resolution, incident response, performance tuning, and on-call support within defined SLAs.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to containerize services using Docker and deploy to Kubernetes (AKS) environments.
- Participate in CI/CD pipeline activities using GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps, including automated builds, test execution, and deployment workflows.
- Follow Git-based version control practices including branching strategies, commits, pull requests, and code reviews aligned with team standards.
- Implement logging, monitoring, tracing, and observability standards across services.
- Author and maintain designated sections of Technical System Design Documents (TSD).
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, provide accurate effort estimates, and communicate progress and blockers proactively.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of hands-on experience developing, debugging, and supporting production-grade Java (17+) enterprise applications, with strong understanding of core Java concepts including object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, and modern Java features.
- 5+ years of hands-on Golang development experience, with demonstrated ability to design, develop, debug, and reason through complex Go systems - goroutines, concurrency patterns, channels, synchronization primitives, memory management, and performance optimization.
- Good working knowledge of the Spring ecosystem: Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, and Spring REST.
- Hands-on experience developing and supporting microservices-based applications using Spring Boot and Go, applying cloud-native design patterns.
- Experience building, consuming, and optimizing RESTful APIs and gRPC/Protocol Buffer services in production environments.
- Experience with batch processing concepts such as job configuration, scheduling, nightly cycle support, predecessor/successor dependencies, file transfers, automated notifications, and failure troubleshooting using enterprise workload automation platforms (e.g., Control-M or equivalent).
- Experience providing production support including incident analysis, root cause identification, performance tuning, defect resolution, and on-call support within SLA-driven environments.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases including Oracle, SQL Server,



and MySQL; proficient in SQL, stored procedures, ORM frameworks (Hibernate, Spring Data JPA), and native Go database libraries.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, indexing, and query optimization techniques.
- Experience with Docker and containerization best practices.
- Hands-on experience deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting applications on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or comparable Kubernetes environments; familiarity with deployments, services, scaling, and configuration management.
- Experience with Git including branching strategies, commits, pull requests, rebasing, and collaborative code review workflows.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps - including automated builds, test execution, and deployment to non-production and production environments.
- Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and performance benchmarking in both Java (JUnit, Mockito) and Go.
- Familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube.
- Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle (Java).
- Understanding of SOLID principles, Object-Oriented Design (OOD), API design standards, versioning strategies, scalability, resilience, and fault-tolerant architecture.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
- Command of Linux/Unix environments including command-line tools and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps (ADO) for tracking user stories, tasks, and sprint work items.

NICE TO HAVE

- Domain exposure to life insurance, health insurance, or financial services administration.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
- Experience with message broker / event-streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation and API security concepts such as OAuth2 and JWT.
- Experience with API gateway solutions (e.g., Kong, NGINX, AWS API Gateway).
- Experience with file transfer mechanisms between Azure cloud storage and on-premises systems.
