Role & responsibilities

The Assistant Manager Capital Projects is responsible for leading the planning, design, execution, and delivery of capital investment (CapEx) projects across manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure. This role drives plant expansion, modernization, and process optimization initiatives, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

The position will oversee engineering design and construction of facilities such as powder blending plants, liquid chemical processing units, automated packaging systems, and bulk raw material storage infrastructure. The incumbent will ensure all investments enhance production capacity, improve cost efficiency, and comply with strict environmental, health, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Industrial Design & Process Engineering

- Act as engineering lead for all CCBU Brownfield / Greenfield project.
- Lead engineering design for dry powder blending systems, liquid processing units, and chemical storage infrastructure.
- Drive process optimization through automation solutions, including dosing systems, batch mixing, and high-speed packaging lines.
- Integrate utilities and support systems such as piping networks, dust collection, ventilation, and emission control systems.
- Scale up chemical processes from pilot to commercial production while ensuring process safety and quality consistency.
- Experience working on projects within Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous (classified) areas, with thorough understanding of applicable safety, design, and regulatory requirements.

2. Regulatory Compliance & EHS

- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., hazardous chemicals,



dust explosion prevention, emissions control).
- Support permitting processes for environmental clearances, statutory approvals, and operational licenses.
- Drive a zero-incident safety culture across all project phases.
- Implement best practices in process safety, including HAZOP, PSM, and risk assessments.

3. Leadership & Stakeholder Management

- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, R&D;, Procurement, Quality, and Finance.
- Provide regular updates on project performance (cost, schedule, risks) to senior leadership.
- Align project execution with business strategy and operational goals.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

- 15+ years of experience in process-driven manufacturing industries (e.g., chemicals, cement, polymers, or industrial manufacturing).
- 10+ years of experience managing engineering teams and delivering small/mid-scale CapEx projects.
- Proven track record in executing greenfield and brownfield industrial projects.

Technical Competencies

- Robust expertise in powder handling systems, liquid processing equipment and Epoxy manufacturing equipments and bulk material handling.
- Manage civil and structural design coordination to ensure alignment with project requirements, design standards, construction methodologies, and stakeholder expectations.
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems (PLC/SCADA) and plant digitization is preferred.
- Sound understanding of process safety principles, HAZOP studies, and plant layout engineering.
