EXICOM TELE-SYSTEMS LTD.
Position: Validation Engineer DC Fast Charging (EVSE)
Location: Gurgaon, Haryana, India
Role Summary
Exicom is scaling its EV DC fast charging portfolio across 30 kW to 1000 kW power classes. The Validation Engineer owns end-to-end product validation for these chargers spanning communication protocol conformance, power electronics performance, embedded firmware behaviour, environmental/reliability stress, and regulatory/certification readiness. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring the ability to independently design test strategies against system requirements, execute and automate tests, root-cause field and lab failures, and produce certification-grade validation reports.
Key Responsibilities
1. Test Strategy, Planning & Requirements Traceability
- Develop validation test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria directly from system/product requirement documents (SRD/PRD), ensuring full requirement-to-test traceability.
- Define validation strategy across product lifecycle stages
2. Communication Protocol & Interoperability Validation
- Validate EV-EVSE communication per IEC 61851-1 (Control Pilot/Proximity Pilot states, PWM duty cycle), CCS2 physical layer, and HomePlug Green PHY (HPGP) SLAC matching (ISO 15118).
- Conduct conformance and interoperability testing against ISO 15118, DIN SPEC 70121, including session setup, charge parameter discovery, power delivery, and session stop/error handling sequences.
- Execute Plug & Charge (PnC) validation
- Test OCPP 1.6J and OCPP 2.0.1 message flows between charger and CSMS
- Characterize and validate SLAC timing, CP state gating, timeout/retry handling, and fallback behaviour (ISO 15118 DIN 70121 degrade paths) for robust field interoperability across multiple EV OEMs.
3. Power Electronics, Firmware & Hardware Validation
- Validate AC-DC power conversion modules
- Conduct firmware validation of charger controllers
- Validate internal communication interfaces — CAN 2.0B, RS232, RS485, Modbus RTU.
- Test protection and safety functions: insulation monitoring, earth leakage/RCD behaviour, over-voltage/over-current/over-temperature protection, emergency stop, and isolation/contactor sequencing per IEC 61851 and relevant functional safety concepts.
- Perform PCB-level and sub-system testing, including bring-up validation of new hardware revisions.
4. Test Automation & Tooling
- Develop and maintain Python-based automated test scripts/frameworks for regression, protocol conformance, and endurance testing across the charger fleet.
- Build log capture/analysis tooling to accelerate root-cause diagnosis.
5. Documentation & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Produce clear validation test reports, test summaries, and executive-level status updates
- Work closely with CFT team throughout the product development lifecycle
Required Qualifications & Experience
- B.Tech / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Power Electronics, or related engineering discipline.
- 2 – 4+ years of experience in power electronics, or embedded systems validation.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience testing EV DC fast chargers
- Proficiency in Python for test automation; familiarity with log parsing and data analysis workflows.
- Experience with lab instrumentation — DC electronic loads, power analyzers, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, EV simulators/emulators.
Key Competencies
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently under program timelines while maintaining rigorous documentation discipline.
- Transparent written and verbal communication for cross-functional and customer/lab-facing reporting.
- Process orientation with working knowledge of QMS/validation documentation practices.
- Proficient in MS Office
