On a typical day you might map a slow process with the team that runs it in the morning, model the cost to serve a student for one program in a spreadsheet after lunch, and hand a rebuilt process and its documentation to its new owner before the end of day.

About Contour

We started in 2020 with a handful of students and a belief that great education should not be out of reach. Today we operate across three brands with 8,000+ students and 425+ team members: roughly 100 in India and 325 onshore in Australia. The India team runs publishing, student experience, CRM and technology, operations, and people and culture.

Every time Contour doubles, the processes that ran the smaller version start to cost us: in margin, in hours, in quality. Someone has to keep rebuilding them on the ground. This is one of those roles.

About This Role

As the India-based partner to Contour's business operations lead, you are responsible for identifying operational inefficiencies and executing end-to-end process redesigns. This is a hands-on role. You will map current workflows, establish performance baselines, engineer process improvements, and manage the transition to new owners to ensure long-term stability.

Your scope includes the full build lifecycle, including analysis, metrics, and implementation. While the Business Operations lead defines strategic priorities and manages cross-functional alignment with our onshore and COO teams, you own the execution and the tangible results.

You will be the foundational operator for this function in India. Success in this role requires a measure-first methodology, ensuring every project is backed by data, and a focus on sustainability, building processes that operate independently after handoff.

What You Will Do

- Identify operational bottlenecks: Audit support, publishing, and operations workflows to isolate processes that are manual, redundant, or failing under high volume.

- Analyze and re-engineer processes: Map current workflows, establish performance baselines,



redesign for efficiency, and manage implementation until metrics improve and stabilize.

- Model unit economics: Quantify the cost to serve a student per program and proactively monitor overhead to prevent margin erosion.

- Leverage automation: Evaluate and implement automation tools where appropriate, while exercising the discipline to maintain manual processes when that is the more effective choice.

- Ensure process sustainability: Create clear documentation, designate ownership, and provide training to ensure rebuilt processes are sustainable and do not regress.

- Maintain performance visibility: Track two or three active re-engineering projects with clear baseline data, projected outcomes, and completion timelines for executive review.

Requirements

What You Need

- Operational expertise: 3 to 5 years of experience in business operations, process improvement, or operational analysis with a record of driving measurable change.

- Process mapping proficiency: Ability to model cost and volume dynamics on a whiteboard or in a spreadsheet without requiring oversight.

- Technical adaptability: Demonstrated ability to build and deploy automations that others rely on, balanced by the judgment to know when to leave a process manual.

- Metrics-driven mindset: Proven ability to establish performance baselines prior to intervention and ensure results are sustained post - implementation.

- Strong communication skills: Ability to produce clear, actionable documentation that enables team members to execute processes independently.

- Cross - timezone collaboration: Comfort working across India business hours with regular overlap into Australian time zones.

- Experience moving a metric across a team or site you did not directly manage, by changing the process rather than by authority over people

- Lean, Six Sigma, or similar training. It is useful here, but we care that you have done the work, not which belt you hold

India has scaled to approximately 100 people on processes that were built for a smaller team. Keeping them lean as volume doubles is a continuous requirement, and this role is the mechanism for that work on the ground.

By the end of month three, you will have mapped and rebuilt at least two live processes with a measured before and after, shipped at least one automation that others now rely on, and established the scoreboard the Business Operations lead uses to track process work in India. The processes you rebuild in those first months will be designed to remain effective for years.
