Role Purpose
A software engineering manager oversees the design and development of software applications and develops high-performance software solutions optimized for Fujitsu's next-generation processor technologies, which help solve real-world challenges facing society and businesses across different industries.
The Software Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs and ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met for developing cutting-edge advanced solutions and services to support business outcomes.
Responsibilities (Refactored for making shorter)
- Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team focused on AI and systems software.
- Drive the design, development, optimization, and delivery of AI frameworks and software platforms.
- Improve performance and scalability of AI workloads, including Generative AI, LLMs, and computer vision applications.
- Guide architecture-aware software optimization across modern compute platforms.
- Mentor engineers and foster technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with product, research, and engineering teams to deliver impactful solutions.
- Contribute to technology strategy, technical roadmaps, and key architectural decisions.
- Identify and drive innovative approaches to solve complex technical challenges.
- Prepare and share software engineering best practices, quality, and Agile development.
- Support hiring, team growth, and capability development.
- Engage with open-source communities, industry partners, and academic collaborators.
Key Performance Indicators
- Number of software applications enabled and optimized for Fujitsus new processor.
- Number of software applications with improved performance
- Development of new software algorithms and technologies
Experience
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience in systems, platform, or product development.
- 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams delivering AI, HPC, or performance-critical software solutions.
- Robust understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, vLLM, JAX, Hugging Face, OpenVINO, ONNX Runtime, or similar.
- Experience building, optimizing, and scaling software for AI and high-performance computing environments.
- Good understanding of computer architecture, parallel computing, and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience developing software for modern compute platforms, including CPUs, accelerators, and heterogeneous systems.
- Familiarity with model optimization techniques such as quantization, pruning, knowledge distillation, fine-tuning, and inference optimization.
- Understanding of LLMs, Multimodal AI, and Generative AI deployment workflows.
- Experience with open-source software, Agile development, and engineering best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills.
Preferred Experience
You will be able to demonstrate that you have:
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and related services including VMs, Containers, Functions, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for systems and application development.
- Strong skills in software performance analysis, optimization, and security, delivering scalable and productive solution
