They serve as the first point of care or as consultants, focusing on disease prevention, chronic disease management, and coordinating comprehensive, patient-centered treatment plans. - Patient Consultations: Conduct comprehensive physical exams and medical history reviews to evaluate patient health. [1, 2]
- Diagnostics: Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., blood work, X-rays, ECGs) to identify medical conditions. [1, 2]
- Treatment & Prescribing: Formulate evidence-based treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide advice on diet, hygiene, and preventative care. [1, 2]
- Care Coordination: Refer patients to appropriate medical specialists when advanced or specialized intervention is required. [1, 2]
