ChatMRO is a fast-growing product built on the foundation of Raptor Supplies, a 12-year-old industrial supplies company with approximately 250 employees. We combine startup speed with the customer base, catalog, and stability of an established organization.

As an early team member, you will have the opportunity to work on core systems and modern technologies, including self-hosted LLMs, semantic search, large-scale product catalogs, and conversational commerce.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer – Backend & Data who is strong in Python, databases, and data-driven problem solving.

You will work across our Python/FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and LLM-powered systems to build fast, reliable, and scalable product experiences.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
- Design, query, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schemas, indexing, and query performance.
- Work with Elasticsearch for product search and retrieval.
- Analyze catalog and usage data to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities.
- Work on data quality, normalization, enrichment, and large-scale catalog data.
- Integrate with LLM systems, including model APIs, context and token management, RAG, and vector search workflows.
- Collaborate with Data Science, Product, and other teams to deliver features from development to production.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 2–4 years of experience in Software Engineering.
- Strong programming skills in Python.




- Experience building APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL preferred.
- Good understanding of database design, query optimization, indexing, and performance.
- Experience with Elasticsearch or other search/retrieval engines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of LLM concepts, including API calling, tokens, context, RAG, and vector search.
- Good communication skills with a strong focus on delivering and shipping solutions.

Positive to Have

- Experience working with e-commerce or marketplace platforms.
- Exposure to AWS, particularly Amazon Bedrock.
- Experience with data normalization and entity resolution.
- Experience working with product catalogs, supplier data, brand data, or large-scale datasets.
- Familiarity with modern AI/LLM technologies.
