Role: Embedded Linux Engineer (Yocto BSP Developer)
Experience: 5+ Years (Minimum 2+ years hands-on Yocto experience)
Location: As per project requirement

Mandatory Skills (Must Have)

- 5+ years of Embedded Linux development experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on Yocto Project experience.
- Strong expertise in:
- Yocto Project (recipes, meta-layers, bbappend, BitBake debugging)
- Embedded Linux BSP development and maintenance
- NXP i.MX6 (TechNexion PICO-IMX6 preferred)
- Linux Kernel configuration, customization, and patching
- Device drivers and BSP customization
- Cross-compilation and toolchain management
- Git and patch management
- Systemd service optimization
- Boot-time optimization
- Debugging tools:
- dmesg
- perf
- ftrace
- systemd-analyze
- BlueZ Bluetooth stack integration and debugging

Preferred Skills

- Yocto migration (Zeus → Dunfell/Kirkstone)
- U-Boot customization and optimization
- Power optimization and CPU governor tuning
- Secure Boot
- OTA update mechanisms
- Qt Embedded development
- Storage partitioning (eMMC/SD)
- Performance profiling and optimization

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain and enhance Yocto BSP for NXP i.MX6 platform.
- Upgrade Yocto BSP from Zeus to a newer LTS version.
- Integrate Linux kernel updates and security patches.
- Optimize Linux boot time and startup performance.
- Remove unnecessary services and packages.
- Optimize systemd services.
- Maintain and upgrade Bluetooth (BlueZ) stack.
- Improve power efficiency.
- Debug CPU, memory, and I/O performance issues.
- Maintain Yocto layers and build documentation.

- Optimized storage layout for eMMC/SD.




- Improved boot time.
- Reduced image footprint.
- Secure Bluetooth implementation.
- Updated Linux kernel with latest fixes.
- Yocto build and BSP documentation.
- Yocto migration roadmap to a newer LTS release.

Screening Questions

- How many years of hands-on experience do you have with the Yocto Project?
- Which Yocto versions have you worked on (Zeus, Dunfell, Kirkstone, etc.)?
- Have you developed or maintained BSPs for NXP i.MX6 processors?
- Describe your experience with Linux kernel customization and patching.
- Have you optimized Linux boot time? Which tools did you use?
- Have you worked with BlueZ and Bluetooth bring-up?
- Explain your experience with BitBake recipes and bbappend files.
- Have you migrated a Yocto BSP from one release to another?
- Have you customized U-Boot or bootloader configurations?
- What debugging tools do you commonly use for embedded Linux systems?

Suitable Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have:

- 5–8 years of Embedded Linux experience.
- Strong expertise in Yocto BSP development.
- Hands-on experience with NXP i.MX6 platforms.
- Linux kernel and driver customization experience.
- Boot-time optimization and performance tuning skills.
- Strong debugging capabilities.
- Experience maintaining production-grade embedded Linux systems.

This role is best suited for an Embedded Linux BSP/Yocto Engineer rather than a generic Embedded C or Linux Application Developer, as it requires deep expertise in Yocto, BSP maintenance, kernel optimization, and NXP i.MX6 platform development.

Pay: ₹14,214.04 - ₹65,159.49 per month
