Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Specialist to support the on-ground execution of Agroforestry and Miyawaki plantation projects in and around Chennai. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on field experience who can ensure quality plantation practices, coordinate with ground teams and farmers, and maintain accurate project records.

Key Responsibilities

Agroforestry Plantation

- Support end-to-end execution of agroforestry plantation drives across assigned sites in Chennai and surrounding regions
- Assist with site preparation, pit digging, planting, staking, and aftercare activities
- Ensure proper agroforestry practices including correct spacing, species selection, intercropping alignment, and soil preparation
- Engage with farmers to support adoption of agroforestry models and address on-ground queries
- Coordinate with ground teams, farmers, and local vendors for smooth execution

Miyawaki Plantation

- Support end-to-end execution of Miyawaki plantation drives across assigned sites in Chennai
- Assist with soil preparation, biomass layering, pit preparation, planting, and mulching as per Miyawaki methodology
- Ensure proper Miyawaki practices including layered species arrangement, correct density, and native species selection
- Monitor plantation density, survival rate, canopy development, and overall growth during field visits

Common Responsibilities

- Conduct regular field visits to monitor plantation quality, survival rate, and overall growth
- Maintain plantation records and ensure timely reporting (photos, MIS, documentation)




- Identify on-ground issues such as mortality, damage, or encroachment, and report or resolve them with guidance from senior team members
- Support CSR plantation drives, plantation events, and stakeholder site visits as required

Requirements

- 2–3 years of experience in agroforestry, Miyawaki, urban plantation, or related forestry/agriculture projects
- Basic understanding of agroforestry models, Miyawaki methodology, native species selection, and soil preparation
- Experience working with farmers or rural communities is preferred
- Ability to travel across project sites in and around Chennai / Tamil Nadu
- Good coordination, problem-solving, and on-ground execution skills
- Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets for reporting
- Valuable communication skills; proficiency in Tamil preferred

Preferred Background

- Experience in CSR, sustainability, or environmental projects
- Exposure to urban greening, afforestation, or ecological restoration projects
- Experience in farmer training, capacity building, or extension services
- Familiarity with native species of Tamil Nadu
