About the role

Portfolio Manager - Direct Equities PCG will be responsible for leading the equity research, advisory, and investment strategy for HNI and UHNI clients within the Private Client Group

The role will focus on generating differentiated equity ideas, managing client portfolios directly in listed markets, and ensuring consistent advisory excellence while driving business growth.

Equity Research & Advisory

- Lead the Direct Equities desk, overseeing idea generation, sectoral/thematic research, and stock recommendations tailored to PCG clients.




- Develop and monitor model portfolios, investment strategies, and tactical calls for HNI/UHNI clients.
- Ensure research coverage is client-centric, differentiated, and actionable.
- Guide research analysts in producing high-quality reports and market insights.

Client Portfolio Strategy

- Provide direct equities portfolio advisory to relationship managers and clients.
- Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and performance assessments.
- Identify market opportunities across large-cap, mid-cap, and emerging sectors aligned to client objectives and risk profiles.
- Drive adoption of long-term equity investing discipline while balancing tactical opportunities.

Business Growth & P&L; Ownership

- Portfolio Manager - Direct Equities PCG will be responsible for the profitability of the business unit, ensuring sustainable growth in AUM and revenues.
- Work closely with PCG Relationship Managers, Sales, and Product teams to expand client penetration in direct equities.
- Monitor and optimize equity advisory revenues (brokerage, advisory fees, PMS/structured equity solutions, etc.)

Team Leadership

- Lead a team of equity strategists, research analysts, and product specialists.




- Provide training and mentoring to Relationship Managers to strengthen direct equity advisory capabilities.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on client outcomes and research excellence.

Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure compliance with SEBI and other regulatory guidelines on research, advisory, and client communications.
- Establish robust risk management frameworks for stock selection and portfolio recommendations.
- Maintain the highest standards of governance, ethics, and transparency in equity advisory.

Skills &

Role Requirement

- - MBA (Finance), CA, CFA, or equivalent skilled qualifications.
- 6–8 years of experience in equity research/advisory with exposure to HNI/UHNI client management.
- Prior leadership experience in PCG/Wealth Management/Direct Equity Advisory is strongly preferred.

- Strong expertise in fundamental and technical equity research.

- Proven ability to design and manage equity portfolios for HNI/UHNI clients.
- In-depth understanding of equity markets, sector dynamics, and valuation methodologies.
- Strong P&L; orientation with ability to drive revenue growth.
- Leadership and people management skills with ability to mentor teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client engagement abilities.
