About the Role :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coding Consultant specializing in Evaluation & Management (E&M;) coding and MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System) . This is an individual contributor role , requiring strong analytical skills, accuracy, and in-depth knowledge of coding guidelines and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accurate coding for E&M; services across multiple specialties based on documentation.
Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM , CPT , and HCPCS coding guidelines.
Apply MIPS quality measures and ensure proper documentation alignment for reporting.
Review clinical documentation and provide feedback to providers to improve coding accuracy and completeness.
Conduct coding audits and identify areas of improvement or risk.
Stay updated with changes in coding regulations, payer guidelines, and MIPS requirements.
Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks as defined by the organization.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (QA, compliance, and providers) when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Certified coder credentials such as CPC / CCS / COC .
Strong expertise in E&M; coding guidelines (2021 & updated AMA rules) .
Hands-on experience with MIPS reporting and quality measures .
Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology .
Ability to work independently as an individual contributor .
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Proficiency in coding tools, EHR systems, and MS Excel.
