Accounts Executive – Canadian Trucking Industry

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Accounts Executive to join our Canadian trucking and transportation operations team. The ideal candidate should have experience handling trucking accounts, invoicing, settlements, reconciliations, and financial transactions related to the transportation industry.

Key Responsibilities

- Process and maintain daily accounting transactions for Canadian trucking operations.
- Prepare and manage customer invoicing and billing.
- Perform driver settlements and carrier payments.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on collections.
- Verify load revenues, fuel expenses, tolls, and other operational costs.
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Prepare financial reports and maintain accurate accounting records.
- Coordinate with dispatch, operations, and management teams regarding billing and payment-related matters.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.

Requirements

- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of accounting experience (experience in trucking or logistics preferred).
- Good understanding of Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations.
- Experience with invoicing, settlements, and collections.




- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Willingness to work night shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams, as well as Slack.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and dispatch software (e.g., Transplus Fleetmanager) is preferred.
- An accounting background or relevant designation is an asset.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in Canadian trucking, transportation, freight brokerage, or logistics accounting.
- Familiarity with trucking software such as TruckMate, Axon, Tailwind, Rose Rocket, or similar systems.
- Knowledge of cross-border transportation operations will be considered an asset.
