A journalism intern supports the editorial team in news gathering, writing, and content production, gaining hands-on experience in research, interviewing, fact-checking, and digital publishing

Core Responsibilities

 Research & Story Development: Conduct in-depth research using databases, public records, and other sources; monitor news feeds, press releases, and social media for potential stories

 Writing: Draft clear, concise news briefs, summaries, and short-form articles under deadlines

 Interviewing: Schedule and conduct interviews (phone, video, or in-person) with prepared questions; transcribe interviews accurately

 Fact-Checking: Verify data, quotes, and facts before publication to ensure accuracy and integrity

 Event Coverage: Attend local events, press conferences, and community meetings as assigned

 Digital Content: Collaborate with the social media team to create engaging posts, graphics,



and short video clips; use the content management system (CMS) to publish articles with multimedia

 Editorial Support: Assist in managing editorial calendars, tracking deadlines, and supporting senior journalists

Skills & Qualifications

 Solid written and verbal communication skills

 Research and fact-checking abilities

 Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks

 Familiarity with CMS platforms and digital content tools

 Understanding of journalistic ethics and standards
