Job Summary

The RtR team has responsibility for a range of controllership activities including fixed assets, month end close, balance sheet reconciliations, consolidation and external reporting, as well as other special projects. Services are provided to many of ITT’s businesses, located around the globe. ITT is U.S. owned, therefore a strong controls setting must be maintained, to ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

The Accounting Associate provides key accounting support for the Accountant, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and to tight deadlines. They assist with reporting financial results, providing managers with the level of support and information required for successful day-to-day operation of the business.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Calculate and post various journal entries,



including accruals, prepayments, payroll, reserves, taxes etc.
- Monitor capital projects and CIP through to completion. Maintain fixed assets register including additions, transfers, depreciation and disposals.
- Determine accounting entries for bank transactions, create/post journals and complete bank reconciliations.
- Raise intercompany charges and resolve month end imbalances, in conjunction with OtC & PtP.
- Assist in the preparation of various tax calculations and submissions.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate, resolve and clear any reconciling items.
- Review own work to understand and be able to explain reasons for variances in a/c balances and charges.
- Assist with SOX compliance monitoring and ensure own work is completed in line with required controls.
- Submit entries and forms in the One Stream consolidation system.
- Run reports from ERP and BI systems to support calculations and provide management information.
- Prepare / monitor standard operating procedures to ensure these are accurate and up to date.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Work with Accountant to drive green KPI delivery and continued positive trends in operational KPIs.
- Act as first point of contact for FA&R; process enquiries.
- Identify and/or implement continuous improvement initiatives.




- Liaise and foster good relations with colleagues at business units and corporate functions.
- Support transitions of activities into / out of SSC, including job shadowing and knowledge transfer.
- Participate in special accounting and other projects, as assigned.

Skills, Experience & Education

Required

- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Outlook and especially Excel
- Comfortable with a changing, fast paced environment
- Able to communicate and work effectively with other team members, including senior management
- Able to be flexible with working hours, to ensure time sensitive activities and projects are completed on schedule, especially around month end close
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
- Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good attention to detail
- Good, all-round knowledge of financial accounting processes – either through education or experience

Preferable

- Financial accounting and reporting experience in a large, complex organization
- Experience of SAP or other ERP system
- Experience of consolidation software, such as One Stream
- Experience of management information systems, including report writing
- Microsoft Excel at advanced level, including writing macros and other automations
- Recognised accountancy qualification (either qualified or part qualified)
- Working knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles
- 2+ years’ experience in a financial accounting role
- Previous experience working in a shared services environment
- Additional European language (other than English)
