Job Summary
- Physician Assistant to assess patients vitals and history and document
the same in proper order.
- Taking clinical rounds of patient and accompany primary and referring
consultant on their rounds and convey the orders to assigned staff and
keep track on the same.
- Physician Assistant to channelize for discharge of patient one told fit for
discharge by consultant.
Job Profile
- Immediately after the admission of the patient on floor:
- Initial examination is required to be done, vitals are to be checked and documented.
- Communication should be given to the Admitting Physician.
- RMO should attend all Clinical rounds with the Admitting Physician/ Specialist [Ref. Consultant].
- Orders given during the round are to be understood, and documented accurately in Doctor’s notes and Treatment Sheets.
- Required orders related to nursing and/or diet are to communicated to the concerned staff nurse.
- In case of any queries, re-confirmation of order is to be done with the concerned Admitting Physician or Ref. Consultant.
- At the time of Admission, Discharge Summary is to be initiated and updated in every shift.
- Night RMO is responsible to verify all Discharge Summaries for proper documentation of all conspicuous events during the Hospital Course. It will also be the responsibility of the night Physician Assistant to keep Discharge Summaries ‘ready for the Dispatch’ for the discharges scheduled for coming morning.
- For any transfer to ICU in case of any deterioration in patient’s clinical condition, it will be the responsibility of the floor Physician Assistant to ensure communication to Admitting Physician, ICU, Patient and Relatives and to the respective Ward Clerk for transfer related formalities.
- RMOs on night duty should check the status of booking, informed consent completion and execution of pre-procedural orders for patients scheduled for procedure/ surgery on next day.
