Job Description – Accountant Position Accountant Department Finance & Accounts Industry Shipping, Freight Forwarding & Logistics Reporting To Accounts Manager / Finance Manager Job Summary We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting operations of our shipping and logistics business. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in accounting, taxation, financial reporting, and statutory compliance, with knowledge of shipping-related transactions such as freight billing, vendor payments, and customer receivables. Key Responsibilities Maintain day-to-day accounting records, including journal entries, vouchers, and ledgers. Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). Prepare customer invoices for freight, transportation, shipping, and logistics services. Verify vendor invoices and process payments on time. Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow. Reconcile customer, vendor, and general ledger accounts. Maintain records of freight charges, transportation expenses, and operational costs. Prepare monthly MIS reports, financial statements, and management reports. Ensure timely compliance with GST, TDS, and Income Tax regulations. Prepare and file GST returns, TDS returns, and other statutory reports. Coordinate with auditors, banks, customers, vendors, and government authorities. Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.



Maintain proper accounting documentation and ensure compliance with company policies. Support internal and statutory audits. Educational Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com) is mandatory. M.Com, CA Inter, CMA Inter, or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage. Experience 2–5 years of experience in Accounting and Finance. Experience in the Shipping, Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Transportation, Courier, or Supply Chain industry will be preferred. Required Skills Proficiency in Tally ERP/TallyPrime or other accounting software. Strong knowledge of MS Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF formulas, and basic MIS reporting. Valuable understanding of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and statutory compliance. Experience with bank reconciliation, ledger scrutiny, and account reconciliation. Knowledge of freight billing, shipping documentation, and logistics accounting is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Preferred Competencies Knowledge of shipping and logistics operations. Familiarity with ERP systems is an added advantage. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
