We are seeking a Civil/Structural Discipline Coordinator to serve as the primary technical liaison between Kiewit's North American Power engineering organization and our India-based engineering resources.
This role is responsible for coordinating civil/structural engineering activities supporting power generation projects, ensuring engineering deliverables meet Kiewit's standards for quality, constructability, safety, and execution. The successful candidate will facilitate communication, technical alignment, and collaboration between North American project teams and engineering partners in India while helping establish scalable engineering processes as the Mumbai office grows.
The ideal candidate is an experienced civil or structural engineer with a strong background in power generation facilities and a passion for building high-performing global engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Coordination
- Serve as the primary civil/structural engineering interface between Kiewit's North American Power engineering teams and the Mumbai engineering office.
- Facilitate communication between engineering teams by resolving technical questions and ensuring timely decisions.
- Build solid working relationships with engineers, project managers, and discipline leads across multiple offices.
Technical Coordination
- Support civil and structural engineering activities throughout project planning, design, and execution.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with Kiewit standards, client specifications, and applicable industry codes.
- Support engineering efforts involving:
- Site development and grading
- Foundations and equipment supports
- Structural steel design
- Concrete structures
- Pipe racks and equipment structures
- Heavy industrial structural systems
- Seismic and wind design
- Underground utilities and drainage
- Civil earthwork and site infrastructure
- Coordinate interfaces between civil/structural engineering and other disciplines including mechanical, electrical, piping, controls, and geotechnical engineering.
Project Execution
- Monitor engineering progress and proactively identify schedule or resource constraints.
- Assist project leadership with planning and coordination of globally distributed engineering work.
- Escalate technical issues and execution risks to appropriate engineering leadership.
- Participate in engineering coordination meetings across multiple time zones.
- Support implementation of engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of civil and/or structural engineering experience supporting power generation EPC projects.
- Experience coordinating engineering work across multiple offices or engineering organizations.
- Strong understanding of civil and structural systems commonly found in power generation facilities.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Thermal power generation
- Combined cycle plants
- Simple cycle generation
- Familiarity with North American engineering standards and industry codes.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively across different cultures and time zones.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting North American EPC projects.
- Experience working with globally distributed engineering teams.
- Familiarity with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System, RISA, SAP2000, or similar platforms.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, SmartPlant, AVEVA, or other engineering design tools.
- Knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC, ASTM, and other North American design standards.
- Experience supporting engineering execution for utility or independent power producer (IPP) projects.
